Mammoth Mountain Ski Area recently announced plans to remain open for skiing and snowboarding through July 4, thanks to the record-breaking snowfall received this year.

Another 8 to 15 inches of snowfall in the last 24 hours gives Mammoth a total 617 inches of snow to date, a single-season record for the Eastern Sierra resort, with more snow possible this weekend.

All lifts are currently operating, wind and weather permitting, except for Chair 20.

Mammoth is no stranger to skiing through Independence Day; the resort has remained open for skiing through July 4 for four of the last seven seasons.
