Hurley Pro calls another lay day; competition expected to resume Friday

Hurley Pro contest organizers have called a lay day for today but the ASP World Tour competition probably will resume Friday at Lower Trestles in San Clemente.

“We’re off today but I’m really hoping to see an increase in swell" Friday, contest director Pat O’Connell said. “We have one full day of competition remaining with Round 4 through the finals, but I’m hoping to run Round 4 tomorrow and the quarters through the finals on Saturday.”

Saturday's final probably will be held in the early afternoon. Here is a fourth-round heat schedule:

--Heat 1: Bede Durbidge (AUS) vs. Kai Otton (AUS)

--Heat 2: Josh Kerr (AUS) vs. Adriano de Souza (BRA)

--Heat 3: Taylor Knox (USA) vs. Roy Powers (HAW)

--Heat 4: Dane Reynolds (USA) vs. Rob Machado (USA)

--Heat 5: Kelly Slater (USA) vs. Kekoa Bacalso (HAW)

--Heat 6: Damien Hobgood (USA) vs. Heitor Alves (BRA)

--Heat 7: C.J. Hobgood (USA) vs. Michel Bourez (PYF)

--Heat 8: Mick Fanning (AUS) vs. Kieren Perrow (AUS)
