Sportfishing Saturday with Philip Friedman of 976-TUNA, after five weeks in the 6-7 a.m. time slot on AM 570, will move to the 9-10 a.m. slot beginning Saturday.

However, this Saturday's show will be abbreviated by 30 minutes because of the UCLA-Notre Dame basketball game airing at 9:30 on the same station, Friedman said.

His show on Saturday will feature former UCLA and Lakers player/announcer Keith Erickson, who is a casual angler. Also on the show will be Capt. Justin Fleck, who just returned from a magical long-range trip aboard the Excel out of San Diego.

Highlights of that voyage, aside from phenomenal yellowfin tuna fishing (21 over 200 pounds and two over 300 pounds), included the sighting of 300 Humboldt squid being preyed upon by giant tuna and humpback whales. Passengers also witnessed about 100 sperm whales sunning at the surface off southern Baja California.
