U.S. fencer Jacobson wins first match

Sada Jacobson of Dunwoody, Ga., won her first match in the women’s individual sabre competition at the 2008 Olympic Games at the Fencing Hall in Beijing. She scored a 15-11 victory over Mailyn Gonzalez Pozo of Cuba in the round of 32.

Her next match is in about 40 minutes; she will face the winner of the match between Gioia Marzocca of Italy and Olga Kharlan of Ukraine.
