BEIJING -- Don Quarrie, one of Jamaica’s (and USC’s) greatest sprinters of all-time, defended Usain Bolt against criticism that he was disrespectful of opponents because of his celebrations after winning the 100 and 200 meters.

‘Usain, being a young man, is still maturing,’’ said Quarrie, a five-time Olympian and four-time medalist, in an interview Thursday with Reuters. ‘He was just enthusiastic, very happy. There was never any animosity. It came from within. What he does -- there is nothing negative for the sport. He was just so overwhelmed at what was going on.
