10 injured in Cincinnati casino floor collapse

At least 10 people suffered minor injuries when the floor of casino being built in downtown Cincinnati collapsed Friday morning, officials said.
The workers were pouring a concrete floor at the $400-million construction project when the partial collapse took place, fire department spokeswoman Jennifer Spieser said in a telephone interview.
The incident took place at 7:52 a.m. local time and 26 fire companies responded, she said.
Police blocked off the downtown streets around Broadway.
Reports of the number of injured went up and down as officials tallied those taken to local hospitals. By mid-morning, the official tally stood at 10 injured transported to hospitals. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
The construction site was closed for the day on Friday while state officials examined the area, Spieser said.
The casino is being developed by Rock Gaming LLC in partnership with Caesar’s Entertainment.
In October 2010, Rock Gaming named four Ohio companies to oversee construction at the site. Spokesmen for the various companies told local reporters that the firms were investigating the incident as well.
A parking garage connected with the downtown Cleveland casino also being developed by Rock Gaming collapsed on Dec. 16. There were no injuries and construction has resumed.
