The Texas judge who appeared in a YouTube video beating his now-adult daughter is fighting to stay in contact with her 10-year-old sister.

Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams filed court paperwork Monday objecting to a temporary restraining order, issued last week, that bars him from visiting the girl without the permission of her mother, ex-wife Hallie Adams, according to the Associated Press. The couple divorced in 2007.

In the 2004 video, which stirred nationwide controversy earlier this month, Adams appears to beat his then-16-year-old daughter Hillary with a belt; his wife stands by his side urging the girl to ‘take it.’

Hillary Adams recorded the video secretly and posted it in late October. Earlier this month, she appeared on the ‘Today’ show with her mother to explain why she waited so long to post it and why she forgave her mother for participating.

As of Tuesday, the video had been viewed more than 6 million times.

Since the video went viral early this month, Adams has not heard cases.

A custody hearing has been scheduled for Monday.
