Since ‘Christmas Rappin,’ rap has had more than its fair share of Christmas songs; the seasonal trend may have reached its apex of absurdity with Jim Jones’ ’Ballin’ on Xmas.’ For obvious reasons, the canon of rap Hannukah songs is decidedly less estimable. In fact, none immediately come to mind — though that didn’t stop Too Short and Jim Jones from giving their most valiant efforts.

Enter Speak, the Moreno Valley-raised rapper born Anthony Negrete. Perhaps best known for co-writing Kreayshawn’s hit single ‘Gucci Gucci,’ the shaggy-haired and bearded rapper has emerged over the last year as one of Los Angeles’ most eccentric and interesting rappers.

Wildly outspoken and prone to describing himself on Twitter in unprintable terms, theArt Goon crew member’s latest album ‘Inside Out Boy’ found him continuing to refine his comic, arty and very funny strain of swag rap. Now, with the Jewish festival of lights upon us, Negrete is in the midst of gifting eight free songs to fans and those with an affinity for latkes.

The latest, premiering today at Pop & Hiss, is a collaboration with Spaceghost Purrp. Affiliated with Harlem’s A$AP crew, Spaceghost’s profane and awesome Memphis-channeling ‘Blvcklvnd Rvdix 66.6 (1991)’ mixtape was easily one of the year’s finest. The pair’s latest collaboration finds them trading jokes and bars about Red Lobster’s garlic biscuits, having a Grizzly Adams beard, naked shadowboxing, and joys afforded to those with rap money. Recommended for anyone who can identify what a menorah is. (Warning: contains profanity.)

You can download the first few installments of the series at Applebird. In the meantime, Happy Hannukah.
