Sunset Junction 2011: Stages, set times unveiled

First, the bad news: When soul artist Charles Bradley likely whips an unsuspecting Sunset Junction crowd into a communal dance frenzy, the sun and heat will be at their midday peak. The good news, however, is that Bradley won’t interfere with some of the city’s finest local acts, such as vintage rockers the Dum Dum Girls or pop duo the Belle Brigade, which will also take part in the second and final day of the Silver Lake weekend event, set to begin Aug. 27.

Though the Sunset Junction festival is three weeks away yet, Pop & Hiss has an early look below at the stages and set times for this year’s lineup. Tickets are on sale now for an advance price of $20 per day, and are available online, at Origami Vinyl in Echo Park or at 4121 Santa Monica Blvd. At the gate, tickets go up to $25 per day (for those who buy online, however, service fees essentially negate the early-bird price).

There’s plenty of music to be had over the two-day festivities, though, as six stages will offer a mix of local and national programming. Headliners this year include soul legend Bobby Womack, dancey indie-rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and alt-rock weirdos the Butthole Surfers.

Area venues the Satellite and Hotel Cafe will curate a hearty dose of the lineup, and El Cid will house a ‘locals-only’ stage each day. Set times after the jump.
