Lady Gaga producer RedOne, who also answers to the much less mystical name of Nadir Khayat, is one of the flush-faced Grammy newbies: ‘I’m so happy to be here,’ he said. ‘It took 20 years.... It’s like a dream come true.’

Speaking of the Dancing Queen, who was ushered onto the red carpet carried aloft and inside some sort of egg contraption, RedOne said she will be able to maintain her appeal: ‘Yes, she’s got it. She’s ahead of the curve. The world needs her. She’s got something special. Look at her entrance.... She makes things creative. We need more of it.’

Regarding other projects, he said he’s finishing up JLo’s album: ‘The first song is already blowing up.’ He described the album as having an island-y feel with lots of love songs.
