Carlene Carter, Dave Alvin, Exene in June 24 Nashville flood relief benefit

Several veteran L.A. musicians with a strong affinity for country music are banding together to play a benefit June 24 at the Echo to raise funds for the Recording Academy’s MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief Fund.
Dave Alvin, Exene Cervenka, Syd Straw and others will join country music scion Carlene Carter, the daughter of June Carter and her first husband, Carl Smith, at the show in Echo Park.
Beyond the loss of life from the recent rainstorms that overflowed the banks of the Cumberland River that runs through the country music capital, thousands suffered major damage to their homes and businesses, and countless musicians lost instruments and equipment as well as their cars or homes, in the flooding.
The Grand Ole Opry House was forced to close and shows were moved to other locations. Also, Soundcheck Nashville, an instrument and equipment storage facility used by many of Nashville’s biggest country stars as well as by lesser-known working musicians, was severely damaged.
MusiCares’ initial assistance will provide funds for food and clothing, gasoline and transportation, cleanup efforts, relocation costs, medicine and other critical supplies.
Other acts on the bill include Seaspin, the Damn Sons, Tony Lucca and DJ Travis Keller.
