Coachella 2009 Day 3: Rollicking with the Kills

April 19, 2009 | 10:26 pm

Of all the '00 generation performers here this weekend, the Kills' singer Alison Mosshart would seem the most likely to be called back in 20 or 30 years for a valedictory nod from future music aficionados.

She may be gearing up for her new gig fronting the Dead Weather with Jack White, but returning to her duo here Sunday with guitarist Jamie Hince, she poured forth all the energy, charisma and swagger as a bona fide rock star should.

For "Kissy Kissy," she added her own stinging guitar licks to this swampy electric blues workout while recorded click-clacking drumstick beats kept the rhythm.

She also was the only one who made me want to wedge my way through the jam-packed crowd in the Mojave tent for a closer glimpse. I didn't -- but I wanted to.
