Golden Globes: Martin Scorsese wins best director

Veteran Martin Scorsese claimed the Golden Globe for director Sunday night for his 3-D family film ‘Hugo’ about an orphan living in a Paris train station who encounters a mysterious toy seller. Scorsese has visited the Globes’ stage several times before -- he claimed the best director Globe previously for 2006’s ‘The Departed’ and 2002’s ‘Gangs of New York,’ and in 2010, he received the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn.’s Cecil B. DeMille Award. He’s also nominated for a Directors Guild Award and is considered a potential Oscar contender for the film, which is adapted from Brian Selznick’s illustrated novel ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret.’
