Times critic Kenneth Turan has already given Drake Doremus’ romantic drama a glowing write-up. Audiences who saw the film in its world premiere Saturday afternoon also adored the story of a long-distance couple trying to keep their love alive.

[Updated at 3:58 a.m. MST: So here’s where things stand in the wee hours of Sunday morning, according to several independent-film insiders who spoke to 24 Frames on condition of anonymity. Relativity Media’s nascent distribution label is in pursuit of ‘The Devil’s Double,’ the gritty story of Uday Hussein’s body double that premiered late Saturday night at the festival. Sales agents CAA and Paradigm are still mulling their options.

Meanwhile, the Weinstein Co. admires both ‘Like Crazy’ and ‘My Idiot Brother’ -- witness Harvey Weinstein’s appearance at a post-screening dinner for the latter, and his affectionate adjectives to producers at same -- but would probably settle for one of the two. Summit, Focus, Searchlight and, most intriguingly, Paramount, are also angling to buy ‘Like Crazy.’ And the deal for ‘Margin Call’ is all but done.’ What does all this mean for film fans? These four movies will likely be hitting theaters in 2011. More as it develops on our Awards Tracker blog.]
