When we heard that some exclusive new footage from next summer’s ‘The Smurfs’ movie had been released Tuesday, we were pretty excited to get a sneak peek of the fresh take on one of our childhood favorites.

Unfortunately, there’s not really a lot to see yet.

The rebooted smurfs look pretty similar to the ones we knew from the 1980s television series (and have seen more recently on the boxes of Nabisco products). They’re still a lovely shade of light blue and adorably perky looking, with more realistic features -- like white furry beards and glossy eyes -- popping out in 3-D.

The very brief teaser trailer for the film -- which features Paul Reubens, Katy Perry, George Lopez and Quentin Tarantino -- is introduced by Neil Patrick Harris. But it doesn’t actually show very much footage of the Smurfs themselves. We see a montage of world landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Sphinx turning blue as they get ‘Smurf’d.’ Enter the image of the three tiny Smurfs we see in the picture above, and that’s about all we get.

It’s not much, but considering that the movie isn’t slated to hit theaters until next summer, we’ll take it. Plus, those little guys are pretty darn cute.
