5:52 PM: Oh, the humanity. After months of having way too much fun with the name of the award he has just won, best supporting actor Christoph Waltz gives us nothing more than an “Oscar and Penelope -- that’s an uber-bingo!” when it comes time to accept his Oscar. No Oscar Meyer, no Oscar the Grouch, no Oscar Gamble.

On the plus side, he does waterboard another metaphor with Quentin Tarantino as a “fearless exporer (who) took this ship across and brought it in with flying colors.”

Also, we’re told in the press room that Waltz won’t come back stage until the end of the show instead of right now. So maybe he’ll scribble something down in the interim.
