A recent decision by the Beverly Hills school board to end special permits for many students who live outside the city might provide a sound reason to take a closer look at what’s on the market. In case you need to move there. Fast. Here’s a quick take on five properties that pass for entry-level in Beverly Hills. (Correction: Three of the properties listed below appear to be just outside the complex, twisting boundaries of the Beverly Hills school district. They are: 9629 Highland Gorge Drive, 10026 W. Westwanda Drive and 1521 S. Durango Avenue. When in doubt, the district advises, check with individual schools about whether your address qualifies your child for admission to that school.)

221 S. Gale Drive, Unit 203Listed at $479,000 on Realtor.com (www.realtor.com), this 1974 condo has two bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,233 square feet and last sold on 7/16/2002 for $405,000. Is it priced right? Unit 104 in the same building, for example, has two bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,237 square feet and is listed at $499,000.

9629 Highland Gorge Drive

Listed at $625,000, this tree-shaded cottage has one bedroom and two bathrooms in 792 square feet and garnered 942 online views as of 1/20/2010, according to Coldwell Banker’s CaliforniaMoves.com (www.californiamoves.com). The property was reduced from $695,000 in August 2009 and last sold on 3/28/2003 for $540,500.

10026 W. Westwanda DriveListed at $699,000 on Realtor.com (www.realtor.com), this two-story bungalow has a tree-top view and one bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms in 764 square feet. The home was built in 1948 and last sold for $740,000 on 10/16/2009.

403 N. Oakhurst Drive, Unit 205Listed at $699,000, this 1974 townhouse has a 90210 ZIP, two bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,472 square feet. According to Trulia (www.trulia.com), the property last sold for $378,500 on 5/18/2001.

125 N. Gale Drive, Unit 204Listed at $679,000 by BlockShopper (www.blockshopper.com), this 1982 condo has two bedrooms and three bathrooms in 1,762 square feet. According to BlockShopper, the south Beverly Hills condo, located about three miles from Beverly Hills High School, sold on 5/21/2007 for $820,000, and before that on 8/22/2005 for $829,000.

1521 S. Durango AvenueListed at $950,000, the single-story 1931 Spanish-style home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms in 2,231 square feet. According to Redfin (www.redfin.com), the property last sold on 6/14/1988 for $360,000.
