The Sam’s Club in El Monte reopens today after closing last year to make room for a larger facility with a wider selection of merchandise, including more products aimed at Latino and Asian shoppers.

The newly constructed building includes sustainable features such as daylight-harvesting skylights and an exterior bio-cell water-collection system. The store uses LED lighting, which the Wal-Mart membership chain expects to be 70% more efficient than traditional fluorescent lights. The project took 10 months to complete.

Sam’s Club will celebrate the grand opening with appearances by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck and exercise expert Denise Austin.

The warehouse club, which features a gas station and larger deli department, is located at 4901 N. Santa Anita Ave.
