The Albertsons supermarket chain will no longer deliver grocery orders to homes in Southern California. Shoppers can still go online and place orders, but they will have to pick up the groceries at a local store.

Albertsons said it was making the change based on research that showed customers wanted more locations to pick up online orders.

When ordering at Albertsons.com, an online shopper will pay a $5.95 fee to have the store gather up the groceries and bring them to the car at the designated pickup location. Customers have to get their orders in by 10 a.m. for same-day pickup.
