A Facebook group purportedly made up of Mexican nationals living in China has sprung up in support of the Chinese government’s reaction to the H1N1 flu outbreak, part of which has included the quarantining of Mexicans.

The Facebook group claims that there is no discrimination taking place against Mexicans there, and claims that there is a lot of ‘media manipulation’ on the issue.

The group, called ‘Mexicans happy in China,’ has 115 members, and has discussion topics such as ‘There is no discrimination against Mexicans in China’ and ‘Mexico and China: Working together to reduce the risks of the epidemic.’

Not everyone back home agrees with their paisanos in China, especially the Mexican government.

Mexico has canceled its participation in a Shanghai trade fair, according to AP, and called the treatment of its citizens by the Chinese government ‘unacceptable.’

‘The recently adopted measures by fair organizers and the Chinese government are unacceptable,’ said a statement from ProMexico, a government agency that promotes foreign trade. Thirty Mexican companies had planned to participate.
