UCLA student attacked woman during fraternity party, police allege

A 20-year-old student UCLA student was arrested after allegedly strangling a female student during a party at a fraternity house early Friday, police said.

The incident took place at 2:30 a.m. at the Theta Chi fraternity house on Gayley Avenue, authorities said.

Police allege that Paul Meyer, who lives at the house, attacked a woman who was attending the party.

KTLA News reported that Meyer and the woman knew each other, but the extent of their relationship was not disclosed.

The woman was taken to a hospital and released.

UCLA police told the Daily Bruin that Meyer was being questioned Friday by detectives and that he would be transferred to an Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department facility this weekend.

City News Service reported he was set to be arraigned in court Tuesday and was being held on $100,000 bail.
