Pasadena police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in the latest in a series of gun-related homicides in the city.

After responding to calls of shots fired in the 600 block of North Mar Vista Avenue about 8:42 p.m., officers found the man, described as being black and in his 30s, dead from an unspecified number of gunshot wounds, the Pasadena Sun reported. The name of the victim was not immediately released.

It was the latest deadly incident of gun violence in the city after the Jan. 15 shooting death of Zane Goldstein, who was in a vehicle at the intersection of Chester Avenue and Maple Street.

Authorities have so far arrested and charged two men -- Peter Parra, 35, of Pasadena, and Kevin Cabrera, 25, of North Hollywood -- with murder in that case.

Two men have also been charged in connection with their alleged roles in the Christmas Day shooting death of Pasadena resident Victor McClinton, 49, who was killed near the corner of Newport Avenue and Wyoming Street.

There have also been several reports this year of shots fired at buildings, resulting in no injuries.

Anyone with information on the latest incident is asked to call the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4241. To remain anonymous through Crime Stoppers, call (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
