Camp Pendleton Marine dies in sky diving accident in Perris

A Camp Pendleton Marine plummeted to his death Tuesday afternoon during a training exercise in Perris, authorities said.

The victim was identified as a man who crash-landed in the 2000 block of Goetz Road, the Riverside County Fire Department said. His name was not released.

The skydiver was among a group of Marines who were conducting training, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

‘Camp Pendelton was conducting an active military training exercise,’ Sgt. Lisa McConnell told The Times.

The incident was reported about 3 p.m. as a ‘sky diver down,’ the department said in a statement.
