Man killed after jumping from moving vehicle on freeway

A man was killed Saturday when he jumped from a moving vehicle on the 170 Freeway near Toluca Lake, closing a southbound lane for several hours, authorities said.

The man jumped from a vehicle near the intersection of the 170 and the 134 Freeway shortly after 4 p.m., and he was possibly struck by another vehicle, said Officer Tatiana Sauquillo of the California Highway Patrol.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the man’s name or any other information about him.

A middle lane on the freeway was closed about 4:30 p.m. and was not reopened until after 7:30 p.m., Sauquillo said. She said there were no arrests.
