A man was in critical condition Saturday after being shot in the Torrance area, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

The man, whose name and age were not released, was shot about 12:44 p.m. in the 20700 block of South Raymond Avenue in an unincorporated part of the county, authorities said.

Homicide detectives were investigating.

“Last we knew, he was transported to the hospital in extreme critical condition,” Sheriff’s Deputy Kim Manatt said.
