Dorner manhunt: L.A. City Council adds $100,000 to reward

Los Angeles City Council members voted Tuesday to add $100,000 to the reward being offered for the arrest of fugitive ex-cop Christopher Jordan Dorner, upping the bounty to $1.1 million.

County supervisors in Los Angeles and Riverside counties are expected to follow suit, raising the total reward to $1.3 million.

‘In my history in Los Angeles ... we’ve never seen a situation resort to this,’’ said Councilman Dennis Zine, a former LAPD officer who made the motion along with Councilman Mitch Englander. ‘And it’s imperative that this individual be brought into custody as quickly as possible.’

Tips on Dorner’s whereabouts have been pouring in since a $1-million reward for his capture, funded by private groups, was announced over the weekend. Police in Los Angeles are sifting through more than 1,000 tips from the public, officials said.

A Southern California dragnet was activated after Dorner allegedly shot and killed three people as revenge for his firing from the Los Angeles Police Department. Police say he is armed and dangerous.
