Rescuers are trying to free a woman who remains trapped inside her small sedan, which is lodged under a big rig after a crash on the eastbound 10 Freeway on Friday morning.

California Highway Patrol officials said the crash occurred about 5:40 a.m. at Sante Fe Avenue and that the woman remains trapped almost an hour after the crash, which closed three right lanes.

By 6:30 a.m., only one eastbound lane remained close, and traffic was heavy.

[Updated at 7 a.m., Jan. 25: All lanes have reopened, the CHP said.]

The crash was the third SigAlert issued in Friday’s early morning rush hour. An overturned truck in the carpool lane on the eastbound 10 at San Gabriel Boulevard just after 5 a.m. shut down two lanes, and in east Los Angeles, a crash on the 101 Freeway about 5:20 a.m. snarled traffic for almost an hour.

“The roads are wet, so people need to slow down a little bit,” said CHP officer Ed Jacobs. “Don’t expect to get there at the speeds they normally drive. Plan ahead.”

The 101 near Barham Boulevard was briefly shut down in the pre-dawn hours after six car crashes involving 16 vehicles. One infant and seven people were hospitalized in those accidents, officials said.
