Red Mustang outruns police during chase

Police chased a red Mustang on the southbound 5 Freeway on Wednesday after the occupants allegedly tried to steal a license plate from another vehicle at the downtown Burbank Metrolink Station, police said.

Police lost the Mustang in heavy traffic at 11:45 a.m. near Western Avenue, Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

A description of the driver or other possible passengers in the car was unavailable. The getaway car had black rims and no plates, Ryburn added.
