Movie producer arrested after his Corvette crashed

A movie producer was arrested this week on suspicion of driving under the influence of methadone and the prescription drug Adderall after he allegedly crashed his Corvette into a parking pole in Glendale, according to police.

Robert DeBrino –- who worked as a producer on the films ‘Shut Up and Shoot’ and ‘Find Me Guilty’ -- was taken into custody about 1:58 a.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Boynton Street after a witness told police the 61-year-old had been sitting in his Corvette for 15 minutes before stumbling around outside the sports car, according to Glendale Police Department reports.

DeBrino, who is also a retired New York police officer, allegedly tried to maneuver into a tight parking spot, but instead struck the pole, the Glendale News-Press reported.

When officers approached DeBrino, his head was slumped to the side and his pants were unzipped, according to police reports.

He allegedly appeared confused and told officers that he had taken two methadone pills and some Adderall.

He was reportedly taking the prescriptions pills to treat pain from stomach and knee injuries, which he claimed was the result of being shot.

He had driven from Glendale Studios in the 1200 block of South Glendale Avenue, where he was working on a show, according to police.

DeBrino was released from custody after posting $5,000 bail.

[Updated at 1:25 p.m., Aug. 16, 2013:No charges have been filed against DeBrino, according to the Los Angeles County Superior Court records. Police officials said the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office rejected the case.]
