Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Weldon

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning 11 miles from Weldon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:25 a.m. PST at a depth of 3.1 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 14 miles from town of Lake Isabella, 14 miles from Onyx, 35 miles from Ridgecrest and 99 miles from Los Angeles.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
