Earthquake: 3.9 quake strikes in southern San Diego County

A shallow magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported Saturday afternoon in southern San Diego County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:37 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 0.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 19 miles from Borrego Springs, 43 miles from El Centro and 54 miles from San Diego.

In the last 10 days, there have been two earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
