A woman who died while diving off San Diego was a 26-year-old Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, the San Diego County medical examiner said Sunday night.

The woman, whose name was not released, was part of a group diving to the sunken ship Yukon, about two miles off Mission Beach, on Saturday. When she did not surface, other divers alerted rescue workers from the Coast Guard.

The woman’s body was located after several hours, but choppy seas prevented rescuers from bringing it to the surface. The body was brought up Sunday morning. An examination is scheduled Monday to determine the cause of death.
