A woman was shot and wounded when a heated argument with another woman turned violent at the Jordan Downs housing projects in South Los Angeles early Thursday, authorities said.

The shooting occurred on the 2000 block of East 102nd Street at 12:28 a.m., said Sgt. April Harding of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Station. A group of women were in an apartment getting their hair done when an argument ensued, Harding said.

A woman took out a handgun and shot the victim in the stomach, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital and treated for her injuries. She is in stable condition, Harding said.

The suspect took off on foot and escaped into a nearby apartment on the 2000 block of East 99th Place. Police found the suspect and a man inside.

‘The officers did a protective sweep of the apartment,’ Harding said. ‘While doing the sweep, they discovered a strong scent of marijuana.’

A search uncovered two revolvers, marijuana and paraphernalia, she said. Venita Rosby, 29, was arrested and booked on attempted murder, and Devon Henry, 34, was arrested and booked for marijuana sales.
