Phony photographer asked teen girls to play dress up, police say

A man who posed as a professional photographer in an effort to lure teenage girls has been arrested on suspicion of intent to commit a sexual offense with a minor, police in Fullerton said.

Coopy Boyer, 42, of San Jose, told a pair of teenage girls he approached in Huntington Beach on Nov. 21 that he was a photographer with Zoom Exposure Photography and asked them for their phone numbers, police said.

According to police, over the next several days, the man sent them dozens of text messages, each time becoming more suggestive about the types of photos he wanted to take. At one point, police said, he asked the girls whether he could come to their house while their parents were away.

Police said he also told them he could bring alcohol and photograph them ‘while they played dress-up.’

Boyer was adamant about parents not being present and said he didn’t need them to sign any waivers, according to investigators. He also offered to come to the girls’ house and pick them up, police said.

Police said that, under their direction, the girls set up a time to meet with Boyer -- and that an officer, not the teens, were there to greet him when he showed up.

Police say that, when they tried to stop Boyer, he fled in his vehicle and tossed his cellphone out the window. He was eventually stopped and arrested. Boyer was driving a black 2006 Toyota Forerunner at the time of his arrest. Investigators believe there may be additional victims in the case.
