A Long Beach man has become the third victim of an accident Saturday in which a pickup truck hydroplaned and crashed into a concrete pillar on a 405 Freeway bridge.

Terrence Harris, 36, was critically injured in the crash and died at a local hospital, the Long Beach Police Department said late Sunday. He was a passenger in the vehicle.

Both the driver of the Dodge Ram, identified as Mark Matrineau, 36, of Seal Beach, and another passenger, Richard McAleavey, 54, of Long Beach, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The crash happened just after 6:20 p.m. when the truck, traveling north on Redondo Avenue in Long Beach, changed lanes, police said. The driver lost control and spun onto a sidewalk, where the vehicle hit the pillar.

Investigators believe the truck was driving at an ‘excessive speed for the rainy conditions,’ which caused the vehicle to hydroplane.
