Authorities on Wednesday identified the 14-year-old boy who was killed in what Anaheim police believe was a gang-related shootout Tuesday night.

Jose Eder-Artemino Perez of Anaheim was identified following an autopsy, said Daniel Aikin, a spokesman at the Orange County coroner’s office.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Claudina Street about 7 p.m. after they received several calls about a shooting in an alley, Anaheim Police Sgt. Bob Dunn said. When police arrived, they found the teenager on nearby Vermont Avenue with at least one gunshot wound.

Paramedics pronounced the teenager dead at the scene, Dunn said.

Dunn described the victim as a documented gang member and said a handgun was found near his body. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday night, he said.
