A San Diego County sheriff's deputy with the gang detail shot and killed a man Wednesday afternoon during a fight in Vista, the Sheriff's Department said.
The deputy had sought to question the man after spotting him carrying what he thought was a knife, the department said. During a tussle, the man was able to grab the deputy's Taser, the department said. The deputy fired at close range.
Neither the dead man nor the deputy was identified.
