Man tackled, struck by LAPD officers after car chase

May 21, 2012 | 11:17 pm

A man plowed head-on into a Los Angeles Police Department cruiser Monday night at the end of a vehicle chase and was tackled and punched by police as he tried to run away.

The dramatic chase and collision were captured live on television news footage as the car led officers on a chase through South Los Angeles.

The vehicle scraped a sidewalk and smashed into a patrol car.

The driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled but was groin kicked and knocked down as three officers began striking him. The officer in the patrol car that was hit received a cut over his eye but was not seriously hurt, police said.
