Pedestrian killed in East Hollywood; driver sought by police

Police searched Friday for a driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in East Hollywood.

The victim, in his early 50s, was walking in the crosswalk at Sunset Boulevard and Western Avenue at 4:15 a.m. Friday when a vehicle hit him, said Richard French, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

It was unclear where the vehicle was headed after it struck the pedestrian; there were no details on its make or model.
