Driver hospitalized in 110 Freeway car-to-car shooting

April 27, 2012 |  7:32 am

Authorities were searching Friday for a gunman who shot a 21-year-old in the ear as he drove on the 110 Freeway in Carson.

Tran Nguyen Anh Linh was driving his 2008 Honda Accord northbound on the freeway near the Figueroa Street onramp when he heard a loud bang, police said. He called 911 about 2:45 p.m. Thursday and said he had been shot in the ear.

When California Highway Patrol officers arrived, they found a hole in the driver's-side window of Linh’s car. They closed all northbound lanes of the freeway for about 15 minutes to investigate but found no evidence.

It is not clear whether Linh was targeted or shot randomly.

He was taken to Harbor General Hospital and was in stable condition. He was expected to be released Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the CHP at (310) 516-3355.
