March 16, 2012 | 10:13 am

Los Angeles police are searching for a man with a pockmarked face who tried to kidnap a 16-year-old girl walking to school in the Cypress Park area this week.

The attempted kidnapping of the school girl occurred about 8:20 a.m. Thursday as the teenager walked to L.A. River High School in the area of Cypress Avenue and Silver Street. Investigators said the girl immediately fought off the man and was able to run away and get help.

The attempted kidnapper is described as a 25- to 30-year-old male Latino who is about 5 feet 7 inches and weighs 180 pounds. He is described as having brown eyes and acne or chicken pox scars on his face.

The man is believed to be driving a red pickup truck, possibly a Toyota with faded paint and metal items in the back.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (323) 344-5741.
