Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes near Calexico

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Tuesday evening 14 miles from Calexico, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:07 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.1 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 15 miles from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico; 15 miles from Seeley; and 76 miles from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

In the last 10 days, there have been five earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
