Small fire at Rose Bowl burns itself out quickly

February 28, 2012 | 10:50 am

A small fire broke out at the construction site of the Rose Bowl's new press box Monday morning, according to the Pasadena Fire Department.

The blaze was started by welders who accidentally lit some insulation, said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Costa.

The fire burned itself out by the time authorities arrived. "It was contained to a very small area," Costa said, about three feet square. The fire was reported at 9:08 a.m. and no one was injured.
