O.C. homeless slayings: Police connect Ocampo to double homicide

February 2, 2012 |  7:01 pm

Ocampo

The Anaheim Police Department on Thursday night confirmed a connection between suspected serial killer Itzcoatl Ocampo and the double slaying of a Yorba Linda woman and her son nearly two months earlier.

Sgt. Bob Dunn with the department said that Ocampo, 23, is involved in the Oct. 25 slaying, in which Eder Herrera, 34, has been charged with two counts of murder.

"There's an association between the two," Dunn said.

Herrera, 34, pleaded not guilty to the stabbings in a hearing Jan. 23 and remains in custody.

Dunn would not specify the connection between the two men or give the nature of their relationship.
