Man tries to kidnap girl as she walks from school

Authorities said a man in Riverside County tried to kidnap a 15-year-old girl.Riverside County authorities on Monday night were looking for a man who tried to kidnap a 15-year-old girl as she walked home from school.

The teenager told investigators that the man stopped his white minivan by Lakeview Avenue and 10th Street in Nuevo and tried to  pull her inside, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

The teenager told investigators that she was able to break free and run to a nearby residence, the department said. The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The attacker is described as Latino, 20 to 30 years old and about 6 feet tall with a thin, athletic build, authorities said. He had short black hair, brown eyes, a thin mustache, and two vertical scars and a dark mole under his right eye. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.
