Santa Ana police seek public's help in serial rapist case

January 25, 2012 | 12:42 pm

The Santa Ana Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying possible victims of an alleged serial rapist arrested on Christmas Eve.

Jose Capacete, 39, picked up a woman on Harbor Boulevard in Santa Ana in his Chrysler minivan, police said. Once the woman was inside the car, Capacete pulled a handgun and Taser, according to a Santa Ana police report.

He tied the woman’s hands behind her back and sexually assaulted her, according to the report.

Detectives later arrested Capacete and searched his Baldwin Park home, where they turned up evidence that they said made them believe Capacete had been involved in similar attacks for at least a year.

They are asking anyone with information about possible additional victims and attacks to come forward.

Capacete was known to drive a dark green Chrysler Town and Country minivan, license number 5KSM113, and a black four-door 1997 Honda Accord, license number 6GMX802.

Tips may be made by calling detectives at (714) 245-8378 or (714) 245-8379, or by calling O.C. Crime Stoppers at (855) 847-6227 or online at www.occrimestoppers.org.
