Escaped inmate caught waiting for trolley in Lemon Grove
An escaped inmate from Donovan State Prison was caught Tuesday morning without incident while waiting for a trolley in Lemon Grove, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.
Thomas Francis Kelley, 51, who escaped Sunday by stealing a prison fire truck, was spotted by a sheriff's deputy at the trolley station, authorities said. Kelley had two years remaining on a sentence for violating parole after being convicted of vehicle theft and drunk driving.
Kelley was working with the inmate firefighting unit at the prison in the Otay Mesa area. The fire truck was abandoned Sunday night in Lemon Grove.
