Bellflower High coach fired after arrest in student sex case

Bryan_Shepherd_School officials in Bellflower said Wednesday that a high school coach arrested on suspicion of having sex with a former student has been terminated from his position.

Bryan Shepherd, 47, who was a girls basketball and track coach at Bellflower High School, allegedly assaulted the victim over a four-year period, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was Shepherd's stepdaughter, who was member of the school's basketball and track teams, the Bellflower Unified School District said in a statement.

Shepherd was being held in lieu of $3-million bail after his arrest Tuesday by sheriff's detectives.
