The blackout hit in the area south of the 210 Freeway and west of the Arroyo Seco, said Pasadena City Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian. The blackout occurred during the 11 a.m. hour, and the cause was unclear, Derderian said. About 1,114 customers were without electricity.

Officials said the Laguna Road and Avenue 64 circuits were affected by the blackout, which primarily hit residential neighborhoods.

Pasadena Water and Power, a city-owned utility, did not return a call for comment.
