Woman dies after jumping onto 101 Freeway in downtown L.A.
A 44-year-old woman died Monday after jumping from an overpass onto the busy 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, snarling afternoon traffic on the busy artery.
The woman was struck by a tractor trailer traveling north at the North Hill Street overpass and was hit again by a least one other vehicle, said Lt. Paul Vernon of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Vernon said police spotted the woman's body in the northbound lanes about 3 p.m. Her name was not released.
The case was being investigated as a suicide. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (877) 527-3247.
